Nowadays many enterprises are employing cloud services because of their simplicity and cost effectiveness. However, security concerns gave rise to a strong interest in using cryptographic techniques for protecting data in the cloud. The challenge is to balance security and search functionality. Even though searchable encryption has been an active research topic in the recent years, we are still far from having practical solutions with satisfactory security/functionality/efficiency tradeoffs. During the workshop we will examine the recent developments related to theoretical and practical aspects of searchable encryption and will discuss the directions for future research.
