ESCMID - Infectious Diseases in Pregnant Women, Fetuses and Newborns

23/09/2013 From 29 September to 3 October takes place the ESCMID Postgraduate Education course Infectious Diseases in Pregnant Women, Fetuses and Newborns organized by the Association of Italian Clinical Microbiologists (AMCLI), Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (SIMIT) and the Univerities of Bologna, Brescia e Pavia.
The course is targeted at 20–50 young clinicians (experts in infectious diseases, obstetricians, gynecologists, neonatologists, pediatricians, microbiologists and virologists), biologists or other graduated people involved in the field and it aims at providing updated information in an interdisciplinary setting on: epidemiology and burden of infectious diseases in pregnancy and newborns; pathogenesis of fetal and neonatal damages pre- and post-natal counseling; setting collaborative diagnostic and clinical pathways for management of infections in pregnant women and newborns; prevention and therapy of vertical transmitted infections. The course will be a mix of lectures by expert scientists in the field and interactive group discussions.
The course coordinators are Francesco Castelli (University of Brescia, Italy), Tiziana Lazzarotto (University of Bologna, Italy) and Valeria Meroni (University of Pavia, Italy).
